What Our Patients Are Saying

I love Dr Sova. I have been going to chiropractors for over 30 years due to an injury that still bothers me. These doctors are among the best I have ever dealt with. I have been seeing them since I first moved to CT 11 years ...More

Stamford Healthcare Associates took very good care of me from injury therapy, to adjustments and then with helpful recovery/stabilization exercises.

Great doctors, great office, helpful staff. They're very gentle and were very understanding about my concerns. I feel so much better.

Everyone who works at this office is so friendly and professional. The office is so welcoming, and it's not one of those places where no one knows your name. Keep up the good work! - Corrinne L. patient since February, 2009

Dr. Sova really made an effort to educate me about my care. I learned about chiropractic and how the treatments they recommended worked. I've never hesitated to ask a question, and they've never hesitated to explain. They've made me feel like I'm a part of my treatment.
-Tatiana R., patient since 2003

I thought I was going to need surgery to fix my toe, but orthotics and The SOAR Method have kept me in great shape. My primary care doctor was astonished at the difference!
- Leah, patient since 2008

How Safe Is Chiropractic?

There has been speculation in the media about the safety of chiropractic adjustments to the neck, specifically for those who are at risk for stroke.
The American Chiropractic Association says:

Neck manipulation is a remarkably safe procedure. While some reports have associated upper high-velocity neck manipulation with a certain kind of stroke, or vertebral artery dissection, there is not yet a clear understanding of the connection. The occurrence appears to be very rare—1 in 5.85 million manipulations— based on the clinical reports and scientific studies to date. If you are visiting your doctor of chiropractic with upper-neck pain or headache, be very specific about your symptoms. This will help your doctor of chiropractic offer the safest and most effective treatment, even if it involves referral to another health care provider.

Chiropractic is a healing art  emphasizing the recuperative power of your body, without the use of drugs and surgery. It insures your body's nervous system works at it's best.

Chiropractic focuses on alignment of the body so all parts are moving freely, without pain. By allowing freedom, especially in the spine and removing interference, the body can and wants to heal itself.

Chiropractors systematically and specifically mobilize joints, and soft tissue to restore full motion and allow correct nerve to conduct their work. Nerves send messages to and from every system in the body. Nerves also give us pain signals altering us when something is wrong.

By allowing the spine to move more freely, taking the pressure off nerves, all systems work as they were designed.

Chiropractors work to improve postural alignment. Poor posture and bad postural habits are by far the single most probable reason we experience back pain. Add an injury to poor posture and the injury is more severe and takes longer to heal.

Yes, with over 77,000 Doctors of Chiropractic in the U.S. and approximately 30,000,000 active chiropractic patients, the truth is in the numbers.

A recent Gallop pole shows the majority of chiropractic patients are satisfied with their results. Only a small minority (4%) were very unhappy with their treatment.

The alarming opioid epidemic in America is a clear example of the side effects to masking pain. The majority of these people started over using medication to relieve back pain. Chiroprators offer a different method of treating pain that is effective and safe.

Everyone can benefit from chiropractic care. The spine is one of the most important and complex parts of the body. We see dentists for our teeth, optometrists for our eyes, why shouldn't we take care of our spines?

Yes. This gentle, non invasive healing art is safe. Chiropractors enjoy the lowest malpractice insurance rates of all doctors due to the low rate of adverse side effects.

The initial visit begins with a review of your medical history and details of your injury, if injured.

This is followed by a complete chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological examination. The doctor will then determine whether chiropractic care will benefit your condition or if a referral should be made to another specialist. Sometimes, you will be sent for films or more advanced imaging.

The first visit usually ends with some physical therapy.  Finally, a follow up appointment is made where an explanation of your condition is given by your doctor.

This will vary depending on your condition.  Many patients find instant relief following the first treatment, others take a while longer.  The vast majority of patients do find significant results within one month of treatment.

If your condition is chronic or irreversible damage has occurred to the vertebra, it will take time and the doctor will work with you to find the best course of action to manage your particular situation.
